Malwa 560C

A Midi Harvester Forwarder to outperform all others.

The malwa is a swedish machine used to to fell, process and forward trees, with a lifting capacity of 1.1 tonnes (at 3.5m); six wheel drive; 5.5 tonne payload. We use the machine predominantly in the following ways:

Shearing whole trees on heathland and extracting whole to minimise the biomass left on the heath. The framebrake means no time is spent putting down legs and the shear head allows trees upto 180mm to be snipped off and loaded in a single action. larger trees are best cut ahead by chainsaw and picked up while passing. trees are then stacked for later processing.

Thinning/Felling in harvester mode. the smaller highly agile machine is idealy suited to machine thining where large straigt trackways are undesireable. Whilst the head is rated to a maximum of 420mm we’ve found its more effitient to go ahead or behind and take out anything to go over 300mm with chainsaw, sometimes leaving the crown to be machine processed. The logmax head has programable bucking to ensure uniform lenght products; records dimentions of all logs cut and displays a running total volume. Easily capable of 25 stems an hour including manuvering through more chalenging stands.

Extraction. With 600mm ballon tires on the front and tracks for the rear bogies the ground pressure is far lower than any conventional tractor and trailer system. With no need to put legs down for crane use the Malwa can extract from wetter/softer sites than by conventional means and is far more nimble allowing access to hard to reach areas.
